Suspect in custody after capturing demise of 17-year-old woman in Clovis

CLOVIS, New Mexico (KCBD) – Clovis Police now have a suspect in custody after the death of a 17-year-old girl on Wednesday morning.

Police say it happened near Cesar Chavez Dr. and MLK Blvd around 12:30 am

Police originally got a report of a man shot in the head at an apartment building. When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old girl on the floor with a gunshot wound near the entryway to one of the buildings. The girl, now identified as Shammeal Kirven, was quickly taken to Plains Regional Medical Center where she later died.

19-year-old Zyon Williams has been arrested and charged with abuse of a child resulting in death and tampering with evidence.

Zyon spoke to police on Wednesday afternoon and provided a “detailed account of the incident leading to the shooting and death of Kervin.”

Police say this is an active investigation and the public is encouraged to remain out of the area at this time.
