Suspect in custody: Mom and 11-year-old son shot in drive-by in northwest Harris County, deputies say

SPRING, Texas (KTRK) — A 19-year-old suspect is in custody after a woman and her child were injured in a drive-by shooting early Sunday in northwest Harris County, deputies said.

Keandre Jackson, 19, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 12:45 am, deputies responded to a shooting at a residence in the 5000 block of Roth Forest Lane.

Jackson was in a vehicle and shot into the home, striking a 35-year-old woman and her 11-year-old son, according to HCSO.

Deputies said earlier, an argument ensued between teenagers at a separate residence involving the 11-year-old, but the situation was temporarily calmed by a parent.

Jackson is said to be an older relative of the boys involved in the original argument. Later, the drive-by shooting took place at the victim’s residence.

Deputies say the woman is expected to be OK. The 11-year-old is in serious but stable condition.

“I really hope he makes it. I’ll be praying for him because he is such a sweet soul. He’s a really good kid. And I hope that everybody is OK,” said a neighbor.

Anyone with information on this is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
