PENN HILLS, PA. – Penn Hills Police Chief Howard Burton said Clements was reported missing at UPMC Mercy Hospital.

A police chase of a vehicle that was wanted in a gunfight ended in an accident on Saturday in Penn Hills.

Mark Edwin Clements III, 19, of McKees Rocks, was charged with fleeing crime, offense against arrest and multiple traffic violations following the incident around 3 p.m. on Saturday.

According to a criminal complaint, Penn Hills Police saw a vehicle driving with a black garbage bag over the side window of the vehicle. When police went through the registration process, they found that the vehicle was wanted by Pittsburgh police for allegedly involved in the shooting of an 11-year-old child on Friday night.

When police tried to overtake it, the vehicle started at high speed, sometimes going over 90 mph. The chase ended near the intersection of Verona Road and Coal Hollow Road when the vehicle crashed into another vehicle and rolled over.

Clements was identified as the driver and was pulled out of the vehicle with the help of a K-9 officer.

Police said the shooting the vehicle was linked to took place at around 5:45 p.m. on Friday on the 700 block of Anaheim Street in Pittsburgh’s Upper Hill neighborhood, where an 11-year-old child was injured.

The child was taken to a local hospital by family members and is in stable condition.

No charges have been made at the shooting incident.
