Three younger kids rescued from burning house in Buffalo; mom taken into custody

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) – Buffalo Fire Department officials say three children were rescued from a burning house on Goodyear Avenue in Buffalo without an adult present; and a mother who returned to the burning house was then taken into custody.

Officials said the fire broke out just before 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning in a house on Goodyear Avenue near Genesee Street.

Authorities say two children were rescued by firefighters near the entrance to the house and the third child was rescued from a bedroom.

Investigators said the children, ages two, three and five, were taken to the Oishei Children’s Hospital for examination but were not injured.

Chelsea Patton, 25, has been arrested on charges of endangering child welfare, according to Buffalo Police.
