Thunder Bay man going through dozens of kid pornography, little one luring costs launched from custody

A 26-year-old man from Thunder Bay, facing dozens of charges of child pornography and child enticing, was released from custody after a bail hearing.

Skyler King was originally arrested by police in June 2019 after he was charged with two cases of child pornography distribution and one case of child pornography possession.

However, police continued their investigation and arrested King again in May 2020, charging him with dozens of other crimes.

These included:

  • Nine cases of child pornography.
  • One count each of voyeurism, access to child pornography, and providing sexually explicit material to a child.
  • Two points each: distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
  • 19 cases of luring a child under 18 years of age.
  • Eight cases of luring a child under 16 years of age.

At a hearing in May 2020, King was initially denied bail. However, this decision was overturned after a bail review hearing.

Court documents show that King was released from custody on January 7, 2021 under the custody of two $ 1,500 bailouts.

In his ruling, Justice WD Newton wrote that he was convinced the guarantees would meet their obligations and meet the strict release schedule, which he described as house arrest.

Newton also noted that King had not breached his bail for the eleven months following the initial charges in June 2019; The charges brought in May 2020 were not new offenses, but came from forensic analysis of the devices seized at the time of the arrest in June.

King is subject to a number of conditions. This includes ordering to remain in a specific place of residence in the city and to be under the supervision of at least one surety at all times, except in the event of an emergency or in the case of employment (in relation to the latter, the king must remain under the supervision of a security also at work).

King has also been prohibited from owning or using computing devices – including smartphones, laptops or desktop computers, tablets, or video game systems – that can access the Internet – and not using the Internet.

In addition, King has been instructed to stay away from places where anyone under the age of 18 is likely to be present, such as a shopping mall. B. from public parks, swimming pools, schools or childcare facilities.

King will be on trial again on February 18th.
