ROY – A suspect was admitted to Weber County Correctional Facility following an alleged kidnapping attempt in Roy.
Roy City Police said a 10-year-old girl screamed and fought when a man who was identified by police as 44-year-old Richard Palmer allegedly tried to “grab” her. The incident happened around 8:49 p.m. on Friday evening.
Detective Joshua Taylor said officers were able to identify the man by looking at surveillance footage from a nearby gas station where he was prior to the alleged incident.
“We were able to interview him where he admitted trying to take the girl away,” said Taylor.
He was charged with child abduction.
