Two in custody, following multi-county police pursuit

KANAWHA COUNTY, WVA (WSAZ) – Dispatchers say a chase that began in Boone County at around 4:50 p.m. on Sunday afternoon has now ended in Kanawha County after the driver crashed the vehicle.

West Virginia State Police are investigating and initiating traffic control.

They tell WSAZ that there were two adults and one child in the vehicle at the time of the incident. Both the adult male and female have been taken into custody and face several charges that have not yet been resolved. It is unclear who drove the vehicle.

The accident ended along Chestnut Street in South Charleston after the driver drove off-road and then rode on bare rims for a period.

According to the WVSP, no one was injured in the pursuit or the subsequent accident. They used barbed strips to try to slow the vehicle down.

The child will be looked after by the child protection service until a plan can be drawn up or the family can be contacted.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is also on site and directing traffic around the accident. The affected vehicle was towed away.
