90 Day Fiancé stars Karina Martins and Paul Staehle are finding themselves in a messy custody battle over their kids. Many details are now emerging.

The estranged couple met online, and Paul eventually traveled to meet her in Brazil. However, their relationship quickly became quite shaky. They eventually decided to get married in November 2017. After their marriage, the issues between them only seemed to get worst until it led to their split four years later.

The couple has had several breakups over the course of their marriage, but it seems like they are over for good now. The pair have two sons, Pierre and Ethan, after a number of miscarriages that shook their relationship. The marriage had so many causes for alarm for the 90 Day Fiancé fans, especially concerning the well-being of the children. Their tumultuous marriage had a leaked video of their abusive relationship in front of their son and also saw their first son, Pierre Staehle, go missing. However, he was later found in the company of his father, who eventually returned him to his grandparents due to their situation with Child Protective Services.
The former couple had lost custody of their son after the video of Karine abusing Paul was leaked, and the children were placed with a foster family. According to In Touch Weekly, when the pair had restraining orders against each other in August 2020, Karine had custody of Pierre until the restraining orders were dropped. After that she lost custody of the kids. Then Paul was able to obtain custody in December 2021. However, with their lengthy custody situation, both children are now in foster care.
Paul Staehle was quick to drop an update on the proceedings of his and Karine’s July 11 court hearing just three days later. He was hopeful that the court proceeding would be finished in July and the best course of action would be taken. He also announced that it was very likely that the kids would be with his parents while he and Karine figure out a way forward in life. Karine shared her own update on the custody proceedings on August 10, via her Instagram in quite a fashion. She told fans that she is not allowed to speak about the ongoing court proceedings but that her kids are still her top priority. She also slammed trolls for assuming she does not care about her children.
The custody battle for their two sons has dragged on for more than a month so far, against Paul’s wishes. 90 Day Fiance viewers have always thought the pair would be better off apart, but with two kids, the separation doesn’t seem as simple. Fans hope that whatever decision the court comes to, it turns out to be what’s best for all parties involved, especially the children.
