Dennis Rodman has come forward and stated that he would be going to Russia to free Brittney Griner, but who is he and what’s his net worth?

Brittney was arrested in February 2022 and has been in Russia since then. On August 4, the NBA star was sentenced to nine years in prison.

Since then. the US government has stated that they have been trying to bring the basketball player back to the country. Now, Dennis says that he is going to take matters into his hand and try to get her back.

Who is Dennis Rodman?

Just like Brittney, Dennis is also a basketball player. He was part of the Detroit Pistons (1989-90) and the Chicago Bulls (1996-98) and has played a key role in the NBA.

He was even inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011. Dennis’ always had a love for basketball and even tried making it to the school’s basketball team.

Unfortunately, he never made it even after four tries. Nonetheless, he did not give up and his dedication helped him land a position on the Cooke County Junior College team in Dallas in 1981. His skills also earned him a scholarship to play at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

His life changed completely after he was drafted in 1986 by the Pistons.

As per Celebrity Net Worth, Dennis has an estimated net worth of $500 thousand in 2022. The outlet reports that his net worth was more than this but the basketball player hit a downfall in 2012.

He appeared in court to face charges that he owed over $800,000 in child support to an ex-wife. His lawyer at that time had said that he was completely broke. The outlet also reports that prior to this his estimated net worth was around $27 million.

Since 2012, the basketball player has not been able to get back his lost net worth.

Why was Brittney Griner arrested?

As per TMZ, Brittney was carrying hashish oil, also known as Cannabis oil, a substance that is considered illegal in Russia, and that led to her arrest at the Sheremetyevo Airport.

As per the custom service that was present, Britteny was scheduled to head back to the USA, and during the security check, a working dog detected the possible presence of narcotic substances in her accompanying luggage. Upon inspection, vapes with “specifically smelling liquid” were found in her luggage.

On August 4, the NBA star was sentenced to nine years in prison on charges of smuggling drugs into the country. Her lawyer said they would be filing an appeal.
