Winter storm closings, delays and cancellations

(KXNET) — As the winter storm approaches, groups and organizations are re-arranging meeting schedules and event plans. It’s a small list now, but it will grow as we get closer to the blizzard.

Here is the list of what is changing over the next several days throughout our region:

Nov 9

In Good Spirits Charity Bartender event, scheduled for tonight, has been postponed.

Nov 10

the Burleigh County Senior Center will be closed on November 10, due to the weather.

Mandan Public School District: Due to the impending snowstorm, there will be no in-person instruction for the Mandan Public School District on Thursday, November 10.

United Tribes Technical College other Theodore Jamesson Elementary School will be closed Thursday, November 10, due to a winter storm, and Friday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day.

Cancelled: Women’s Connectionoriginally set for Thursday, November 10, at Bismarck Eagles.

The Salvation Army of Bismarck Mandan will be closed on Thursday, November 10 due to the winter storm.

University of Mary: Due to impending weather conditions in the Bismarck area, all in-person classes scheduled for Thursday, November 10, have been canceled. Teaching faculty are asked to update their students on Canvas before 8 am, Thursday, November 10, as to expectations for Thursday, which may include scheduled sessions of synchronous videoconference instruction. Students have the responsibility to monitor Canvas carefully.

University of Mary offices will also be closed tomorrow, Thursday, November 10. Employees are asked to check with their supervisor for additional instruction.

This cancellation is in effect for only the locations in Bismarck at this time. Students, faculty, and staff should continue to monitor 8000.umary.edu for additional updates.

Sitting Bull CollegeFort Yates, is closed through Friday, November 11.

Bis-Man Transit: Due to the pending inclement weather, Bis-Man Transit is planning on delaying the start of operations of both CAT bus and paratransit service to 10:00 am on Thursday, November 10. Fixed-route CAT and paratransit buses will tentatively begin operating at 10:00 am, Thursday, November 10. We will actively monitor weather conditions to determine if further service suspension is needed.

In addition, the CAT bus Blue route will be out of service for all hours of operation on Thursday, November 10.

North Dakota Health and Human Services: Offices in Bismarck, Devil’s Lake, Fargo, Grafton, Grand Forks, Jamestown, Rollaand Valley City will be closed Thursday, November 10 in response to winter weather warnings and anticipated hazardous travel conditions.

West Central Human Service Center in Bismarck and the regional vocational rehabilitation and child support offices will be closed. Lake Region Human Service Center in Devil’s Lake and its outreach office in Rolla will be closed along with the regional vocational rehabilitation and child support offices. Southeast Human Service Center and the regional vocational rehabilitation and child support offices in Fargo will be closed. Northeast Human Service Center and the regional vocational rehabilitation and child support offices in Grand Forks will be closed along with NEHSC’s Grafton outreach office. South Central Human Service Center and the regional vocational rehabilitation and child support offices in Jamestown and SCHSC’s outreach office in Valley City will be closed.

Clients with previously scheduled appointments will be contacted.

Bismarck Psychological Associates: closed all day on Thursday, November 10.

First Lutheran Church in Plaza: Gospel Concert at 6 pm is canceled.

Stark County: All Stark County offices including the courthouse will be closed on Thursday, November 10 due to weather.

Nov 11

the American Legion Pancake and Sausage Supper in Hazenscheduled for Veterans Day, has been postponed to a later date to be announced.
