Thrissur: A Thrissur court on Thursday denied bail to Malayalam actor Sreejith Ravi who was arrested by the Kerala police in connection with a child sexual abuse case. The actor allegedly flashed his genitals at two children on July 4. As per reports, the two minors are aged 9 and 14. The children complained that Sreejith flashed at them at SN Park, Ayyanthole. He was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act following the incident. The Thrissur court denied him bail and remanded him to 14-days police custody. According to the reports, the defense has claimed that Sreejith has an exhibitionist disorder and he is undergoing treatment for the same. It was also alleged by the counsel that the police did not serve a notice as required under section 41 A of the Criminal Procedure Code, to the accused. However, it was pointed out by the prosecution that it was not the first time Sreejith has been accused of being involved in child sexual abuse. The prosecution said that it would send a bad message if he would be allowed bail, reported The News Minute.
On June 4, Sreejith was arrested by the Thissur West police after he allegedly flashed his genitals at two minors. Speaking to the media, father of one of the children claimed that the minors were being followed by Sreejith for close to two days before the incident took place. The man alleged that Sreejith followed the children to the flat compound and hid behind a pillar and flashed his genitals at the children. The children were shocked. The actor followed them the next day as well but upon seeing the children with their parents, he fled from there. The parents noted the vehicle number and handed it over to the police.

This is not for the first time Sreejith’s name have surfaced in a child abuse case, a similar incident occurred in 2016. At that time, Sreejith was arrested by the Ottappalam police for flashing his private parts at a group of school going girls, he also took photographs of them. Following a complaint by the school principal, Sreejith was booked under the POCSO Act, nearly 15 girls said that had witnessed the incident.
