40 Issues I am going to Be Doing Now That I am Divorced

What’s on your bucket list after the divorce?

I have a male co-worker who recently got divorced. He made a bucket list after the divorce. He says, “If I want to get over them and get on with my life, I have to occupy myself and occupy my mind.” What a great idea!

That motivated me to make my own list and go to work, thwarting things, setting goals and encouraging growth and hopefully building a new life for myself. How about you, do you have a bucket list after the divorce? What’s on your list

My personal bucket list after the divorce, in no particular order:

Here’s what I have so far, I’m sure more will be added as I traverse this one.

1. Get an extra large trash bag and remove anything I don’t use, that doesn’t fit into my new life, creates painful memories, or that I bought in the hope that it would make me and myself turned out to be rubbish.

2. Download podcasts that interest me every time I commute or drive in my car.

3. Have weekend plans. A trip to the beach, a walk in the park. Plan something so that I don’t sit at home and stew on the weekends.

4. Make specific plans to see personally the people I miss but have not had contact with since I got married.

5. Use SPF

6. Open a savings account.

7. Have safe sex … often.

8. Embrace the ordinary. So much of my fear comes from the idea of being average = being bad, even though we are all – with rare exceptions – only average, and there is nothing wrong with that. A world that insists that the only people who are successful and worthwhile are at the top is sick. So I’ll hug my usual one!

9. Read the stories of people who have found themselves in situations similar to mine and study how they found their way out.

10. Make an effort to help others.
