8-Yr-Previous Boy Killed By Blunt Power, 2 Guardians in custody: Fresno Police

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno police arrest the two guards of an 8-year-old boy who they say beat the child to death.

On Saturday, police said they would be taken to the 4600 block on E. Belgravia Ave. at 4:00 a.m. were called about an unresponsive child.

Officers and medical personnel arrived on site and found the child in a bedroom that was not breathing and unresponsive.

Medical staff attempted to resuscitate the boy who was later identified as 8-year-old Jaeluv Smith from Fresno.

Jaeluv was pronounced dead at the scene.

Since no illnesses were known for the child, murder detectives were called on site.

The 8 year old lived in the residence with his 10 year old brother and 13 year old sister.

A forensic examination by the coroner determined that the boy’s death was a murder caused by blunt violent trauma.

Following an investigation, on April 20, 2021, members of the Street Violence Bureau – Tactical Team tracked down and arrested 49-year-old Patrick Johnson, the boy’s guardian, and his wife, 47-year-old Crystal Johnson, on Tuesday.

Police said Patrick Johnson was sent to Fresno County Prison for murder.

Crystal Johnson was arrested and released from prison for child molestation.
