GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Officials from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said a man who had taken his two children with an AMBER alarm Wednesday morning after a domestic incident in a house in Simpsonville was arrested and reported the children were brought to safety.
According to a press release, MPs received a call around 8:20 a.m. regarding Walter Greene, 26, who reportedly assaulted his estranged wife at a house on Roberts Road in Simpsonville.

After the attack, Greene took her two children – a 3 month old and a 1 year old – and got into the mother’s 2016 black Jeep Cherokee and drove away.
The sheriff’s office said the mother and two children also have an active warrant against Greene.
Just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, South Carolina law enforcement announced the AMBER alert had been canceled. The children are safe and Greene is in custody.
The sheriff’s office held a press conference shortly after and said Greene was arrested at a supermarket in Spartanburg County.
According to Lt. Ryan Flood received advice from MPs that the vehicle was on Woodruff Road and approaching Highway 101.
MPs reportedly saw the jeep just before 1 p.m. and followed it until the vehicle pulled into a supermarket parking lot on 5400 Highway 101.
According to Flood, Greene then stepped back from the jeep and left the kids in the house. The MPs were able to move in and take him into custody.
The children in the vehicle have been secured by law enforcement and reported as safe.
Greene has been charged with two cases of kidnapping, two cases of abandoning a minor child, first-degree domestic violence and a violation of the Protection Ordinance.
Greene is being detained in the Greenville County Detention Center.
The two children have since returned to their mother and are said to have been unharmed.
