Court records indicate that Jonathan Soberanis, 26, was detained for sexually abusing a child, fornication with a child, illegally detaining a minor, voyeurism against a child under 14, a crime, assaulting an officer, and resisting the Arrest.

According to Lehi City Police, officials recorded a report of a five-year-old boy who was sexually assaulted by a stranger while unaccompanied in the dressing room of a community center.

According to reports, the man came into the stable the boy was in, stripped himself and held the boy by the shoulders to prevent him from leaving.

According to the arrest documents, the boy was able to break away from the man, crawled under the stable and ran from the locker room to his mother. After reviewing security materials, police say the man who was later identified as Soberanis left the locker room through a different exit at the same time.

After further investigation, authorities said they learned that Soberanis had previously been arrested for fornication, sexual abuse of a child, and indecency with a child and was deliberately banned from the leisure center in 2015.

Soberanis was arrested almost three years ago to the day after exposing himself to a child at a West Valley City recreation center.

When asked about the incident, police say Soberanis told them he was exercising, but security footage showed that it wasn’t. Soberanis told police he could not remember what he was doing at the time of the incident.

Document arrest officers were able to arrest him and take him to the Utah County Jail.
