Toddler’s kidnapping: Most important accused, aide despatched to 7-day custody – chandigarh

The court referred the main suspect in the kidnapping of the two-year-old son of a prominent Ludhiana hotelier and his aide to seven-day police custody on Saturday

The main suspect, Harjinderpal Kumar, who had worked as the family driver for two years and a Sukhdev Singh aka Sukha, was arrested from Moga on Friday. Two other accomplices – Lal Singh and Sukhdev Singh – have yet to be arrested, while the former Sarpanch Rachpal Singh is already in custody until December 8th.

Police said the five co-conspirators planned to portray Harjinderpal Singh as a victim. When the child was kidnapped on December 1, the defendant called the child’s mother to ask for £ 4 million to secure the release of the driver and child. Harjinderpal also turned off his phone.

However, the police set about the plan and went to track down the driver. Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (ADCP, City 2), Jaskiranjit Singh Teja, said she expected important facts from the two men about the execution of the crime.

Police have raided various locations in Zira, Ferozepur, Fazilka and Moga to arrest two defendants who have fled.
