UPDATE: Kidnapped Chesterfield lady and lacking baby discovered, suspect in custody

RICHMOND, Virginia (WRIC) – Petersburg Police Department and Chesterfield Police Department located a abducted woman and her missing child on Sunday afternoon. Maryiah Rhem and her little son Royce Rhem were found safe and intact in Petersburg.

Police arrived at the 12,500 block of Mount Blanco Court on December 27, responding to a fire call and kidnapping. Officials were told that St. Petersburg suspect Patrick Sharod Parrish, 29, brandished a gun and forced victim Maryiah Rhem, 24, from Chesterfield into his vehicle.

Petersburg police now have Parrish in custody and say he is being served on pending arrest warrants.

Police had received arrest warrants for Parrish for kidnapping, using a gun in the commission of a crime, possession of a gun by a convicted criminal, reckless use of a gun, and swinging and unloading a gun within 600 feet of a house.

Mount Blanco Court neighbors Eva and George Sedor tell 8News that they were awake when the gunshots rang out. “I had just got to a point where I felt sleepy. Maybe I should turn off my lights and try to go to sleep and then all of a sudden pop, pop, pop, pop, pop and then a short break. And then the same again. And it was five the first time and then six. ”

The Sedors say they recognized the gunfire. “When I first heard it, it was instantly automatic gunfire,” said Eva Sedor.

The shots Parrish fired don’t seem to be aimed at anyone or anything, says Brad Conner, Chesterfield police lieutenant.

“Even so, shots fired while kidnapping people are very important to law enforcement,” Lieutenant Conner told 8News.
